Aktarma fiilleri ve aldıkları kalıplar
Birinin sözünü her zaman yalnızca said ve told ile aktarmayız; konuşmacının niyetini (öneri, itiraf, inkâr, söz verme, uyarı) doğrudan tek bir aktarma fiiliyle (reporting verb) özetleriz. Her fiilin arkasından istediği kalıp farklıdır.

Kişi almayanlar: suggest / admit / deny + -ing ↔ promise / refuse / agree / offer + to V1
1. Grup (-ing alanlar): suggest (önermek), admit (itiraf etmek) ve deny (inkâr etmek) arkasından doğrudan fiil-ing alır: He suggested going to the cinema, She denied breaking the cup. Başka birinin ne yapması gerektiğini önerirken ise suggest (that) + özne + should + V1 kullanılır.
2. Grup (to + V1 alanlar): promise (söz vermek), refuse (reddetmek), agree (kabul etmek) ve offer (teklif etmek) ise arkasından kişi zamiri almadan doğrudan to + yalın fiil (V1) ister.
Kısayolsuggest asla to + V1 almaz; promise, refuse, offer, agree ise asla -ing almaz.
The cat looked innocent and denied breaking the white cup.
Kedi masum bir yüzle baktı ve beyaz fincanı kırdığını inkâr etti.
With muddy paws, the cat finally admitted walking across the clean kitchen floor.

3. Grup (kişi + (not) to + V1): advise (tavsiye etmek), warn (uyarmak) ve remind (hatırlatmak) tıpkı önceki dersteki told / asked gibi çalışır: arkasından kişi + (not) to + yalın fiil (V1) alır (She advised me to rest, He warned us not to be late).
4. Grup (explain that): explain (açıklamak) sonrasında that + tam cümle gelir. Dikkat: explain tıpkı say gibidir, doğrudan kişi zamiri almaz (explained me YANLIŞ); kişi söylenecekse mutlaka to + kişi kullanılır (She explained to us that…).
KısayolEn çok karıştırılan ikili: suggest (kişi + to ALMAZ) ↔ advise (kişi + to ALIR).
«Don’t forget to lock the door!» — What did Zeynep say? — She <b>reminded me to lock</b> the door.
«Why don’t we eat outside in the garden?» — What did Emre say? — He <b>suggested eating</b> outside in the garden.
The vet advised us to keep the cat warm for two days.

En sık hata: He suggested me to go ya da He suggested to go demek! suggest fiili me + to kalıbına ASLA girmez; ya He suggested going ya da He suggested that we should go denir.

İkinci sık hata: She denied to take the money demek! Geçmişteki bir suçu/eylemi kabul veya inkâr eden admit ve deny her zaman -ing alır: She denied taking the money.

En sık hata: He advised me going to a doctor demek! advise yanına kişi (me, us, him) aldığında mutlaka to + V1 ister: He advised me to go to a doctor.

explain fiilinde Türkçedeki «Bana açıkladı» ifadesini He explained me diye çevirme; araya mutlaka to girer: He explained to me that the road was closed.
