B1 düzeyinde öğrendiğimiz be going to genel bir niyeti ya da yakın geleceği anlatır. C1 düzeyinde ise eylemin saniyeler içinde başlayacağını, bir eşiğe dayandığını ya da resmî bir tarifeye bağlandığını gösteren özel üslup kalıpları kullanılır.

An meselesi: be about to · on the verge of · on the point of
Hemen o anda gerçekleşmek üzere olan eylemler için am / is / are (just) about to + yalın fiil (V1) kullanılır. Geçmişteki karşılığı olan was / were about to + V1 ise «tam yapacaktı ki…» anlamını verir.
Daha edebi ve vurgulu bir üslupta be on the verge of ve be on the point of seçilir. Bu iki kalıp of edatıyla bittiği için arkalarından yalın fiil değil, fiil-ing ya da isim gelir.

Tarife ve haber dili: be due to · be set to
Resmî bir programa, uçuş/tren tarifesine ya da önceden ilan edilmiş bir takvime göre gerçekleşecek olaylar için be due to + yalın fiil (V1) kullanılır («saatinde bekleniyor, yapılması planlandı»).
Gazete başlıklarında, ekonomi raporlarında ve resmî duyurularda ise koşulları olgunlaşmış, gerçekleşmesi beklenen gelişmeleri anlatmak için be set to + yalın fiil (V1) tercih edilir.
Kısayolbe due to + V1 zaman çizelgesi bildirir; due to + isim ise «-den dolayı» demektir.

be set to — Haber ve rapor dilinde bir gelişmenin gerçekleşmeye hazır ve çok yakın olduğunu bildiren kalıp.
