Ödünleme (Concession) kalıpları
B1 ve B2 düzeyinde zıtlığı although, even though, despite ile kurmuştuk. C1 düzeyinde ise karşıt gerçeği kabul edip ana fikri daha çarpıcı söyleyen ödünleme (concession) kalıpları kullanılır.

Much as + cümle · Sıfat / Zarf + as / though
Much as + özne + fiil kalıbı özellikle like, love, admire, respect, hate gibi duygu fiilleriyle «her ne kadar çok …-sem de» anlamını verir: Much as I respect him, I disagree.
Bir sıfatı ya da zarfı vurgulamak istediğimizde ise o kelimeyi cümlenin en başına çeker, arkasına as ya da though + özne + fiil getiririz: Cold as it is… (= Although it is cold…).

However + sıfat/zarf · no matter how / what · whatever, wherever
However tek başına virgülden önce gelirse «Ancak, bununla birlikte» demektir. Arkasından hemen bir sıfat ya da zarf geldiğinde ise «ne kadar … olursa olsun» anlamına döner ve sıra her zaman However + sıfat/zarf + özne + fiil olur.
Aynı anlam no matter how + sıfat/zarf + özne + fiil ile de kurulur. İsim için no matter what / whatever («ne olursa olsun»), yer için no matter where / wherever seçilir.

Cold as it is kalıbında sıfat başa gelir ama özne ile fiil yer değiştirmez: Cold as it is (Cold as is it değil).

En sık hata: However I try hard ya da No matter how it is hard demek! Sıfat ya da zarf özneden sonraya bırakılmaz, hemen however / no matter how arkasına gelir: However hard I try, No matter how hard it is.

Gelecekten söz ederken bile whatever, wherever, however, no matter yan cümlelerinde will kullanılmaz; geniş zaman gelir: Whatever happens next week…
