if olmadan kurulan resmî şart kalıpları
Resmî yazışmalarda, iş e-postalarında ve akademik metinlerde if bağlacı düşürülerek yardımcı fiil (Should, Were, Had) öznenin önüne çekilir. Anlam değişmez; ancak cümle çok daha resmî, özenli ve vurgulu bir üslup kazanır.

1. ve 2. şartta devrik yapı: Should you… ve Were I to…
1. Şart (First Conditional): If you need yerine cümle Should + özne + yalın fiil (V1) ile başlar: Should you have any questions, please call us. Öznesi he / she / it olsa bile fiil -s almaz, be fiili çekimlenmeden be olarak kalır.
2. Şart (Second Conditional): be fiili varsa Were + özne + sıfat/isim (Were the box bigger…); başka bir fiil varsa Were + özne + to + V1 (Were we to lose the contract…) kullanılır. «Şu an … olmasa» demek için Were it not for + isim kalıbı seçilir.

3. şartta devrik yapı (Had I known…) ve olumsuzda «not» kuralı
3. Şart (Third Conditional): Geçmişte gerçekleşmemiş durumları anlatan If I had known yapısında if düşer ve had başa geçer: Had + özne + V3 (Had I known, I would have stayed). «Geçmişte … olmasaydı» anlamı ise Had it not been for + isim ile verilir.
Olumsuz kuralı (Çok önemli): Devrik şart cümlelerinde not asla yardımcı fiille birleşip Hadn’t / Weren’t / Shouldn’t olmaz! not her zaman özneden sonra ayrı yazılır: Had I not seen it · Should you not receive the email.
KısayolOlumsuz devrik şartta not her zaman özneden sonra gelir; Hadn’t I… soru cümlesi gibi duyulduğu için şart cümlesinde kullanılmaz.

- 1. ve 2. şartta devrik yapı: Should you… ve Were I to…
En sık hata: Should sonrasında fiili çekimlemek (Should the flight is late ya da Should he calls). Should bir kip fiilidir; arkasından her zaman yalın V1 gelir: Should the flight be late · Should he call.
- 1. ve 2. şartta devrik yapı: Should you… ve Were I to…
İkinci sık hata: 2. şartta Were yerine Was ya da başka bir V2 fiili başa almak (Was the box bigger ya da Knew I the answer). 2. şartın devrik biçimi yalnız Were ile kurulur.
- 3. şartta devrik yapı (Had I known…) ve olumsuzda «not» kuralı
En sık hata: Had I know (V3 yerine V1 yazmak) ya da Would I have known, I would have told you demek! Şart yan cümlesinde would bulunmaz; kalıp her zaman Had + özne + V3 biçimindedir.

İkinci sık hata: Olumsuz devrik şartı Hadn’t I known ya da Hadn’t it been for diye kısaltmak! Kısaltmasız Had I not known · Had it not been for dizilimi zorunludur.
