Üç parçalı phrasal verb kalıpları
B1’de fiil + tek parçacıktan oluşan ikili yapıları (turn off, look for) öğrenmiştik. B2’de ise fiilin arkasından önce bir zarf parçacığı (up, out, on, down, forward), ardından bir edat (with, of, on, to, for) gelerek üç parçalı phrasal verb oluşturur.

Üç parçalı yapı: asla bölünmez · zamir en sonda (put up with it)
Üç parçalı phrasal verb kalıplarının en önemli özelliği ayrılmaz (inseparable) olmalarıdır. Üç kelime tek bir blok gibi davranır ve aralarına hiçbir kelime giremez.
Nesne bir isim de olsa zamir (it, them, him, her) de olsa her zaman en sondaki edattan sonra durur: put up with it, get rid of them, look up to her.
KısayolB1’de öğrendiğimiz ayrılabilir ikili fiillerde zamir ortaya girer; B2’deki üç parçalı fiillerde ise zamir her zaman en sonda kalır.
The train is very noisy, and the cat can’t put up with it.

look forward to + -ing tuzağı · catch up with ↔ keep up with
look forward to («dört gözle beklemek») kalıbındaki to mastar eki değil, tıpkı with veya of gibi bir edattır (preposition)! İngilizcede bütün edatlardan sonra gelen fiil -ing alır: look forward to seeing you.
Nüans farkı: catch up with geride kalmışken hızlanıp öndekine yetişmek; keep up with ise hızlı giden biriyle aynı tempoda kalmak, ayak uydurmak demektir.
Kısayollook forward to ve make up for edatla bittiği için arkalarından gelen fiil -ing alır.
Are you looking forward to starting university in September? — Yes! I’m really excited about <b>meeting</b> new people.

prepositional to — Mastar eki olmayan, «-e / -a» anlamındaki edat to. Kendisinden sonra isim veya fiil + -ing ister (look forward to doing).

En sık hata: B1’deki turn it off kuralını üç parçalı fiillere taşıyıp I can’t put up it with veya Let’s get rid them of demek! Üç parçalı fiillerde zamir asla araya girmez; en sona gelir: put up with it, get rid of them.

İkinci sık hata: Sondaki edatı düşürüp We have run out milk demek. Nesne varsa sondaki of / with / on / to mutlaka söylenir: We have run out of milk.

En sık hata: I look forward to see you veya We are looking forward to go on holiday demek! B1’de öğrendiğimiz want to go kalıbındaki to mastardır; ama look forward to içindeki to «-e / -a» anlamında edattır ve fiile -ing ekletir: to seeing, to going.

Nüans: give up sugar şekeri tamamen bırakmaktır; cut down on sugar ise şekeri tamamen kesmeden azaltmaktır.
