Plan ve kanıtlı tahmin: am / is / are + going to

Bu yapının iki temel görevi vardır: 1) Önceden niyet ettiğimiz, planladığımız işler (I’m going to visit my grandmother). 2) Gözümüzün önünde net bir kanıt varken birazdan ne olacağını söylemek (Look at the clouds! It’s going to rain).

Kalıp üç parçadan oluşur: özneye göre am / is / are + going to + yalın fiil:

En sık hata: am / is / are yardımcı fiilini yutup I going to sleep veya It going to rain demek. Başta I’m / It’s / We’re olmadan cümle eksik kalır.

going to go demek yerine günlük İngilizcede çoğu zaman kısaca I’m going to London tomorrow (Yarın Londra’ya gidiyorum / gideceğim) denir; bu da kesinleşmiş bir gelecek planını anlatır.

be going to çekimi

going to sabit kalır; yalnız başındaki am, is, are özneye göre değişir.

Olumsuz ve soru: isn’t going to · Are you going to…?

Cümlenin içinde zaten am, is, are bulunduğu için olumsuz yaparken not eklenir (I’m not going to, isn’t going to, aren’t going to).

Soru sorarken ise Am / Is / Are öznenin önüne geçer:

  • Are you going to stay at home tonight? – Yes, I am. / No, I’m not.
  • Is it going to rain today? – Yes, it is. Look at the sky!

Sorularda do / does asla kullanılmaz: Do you going to come? değil, Are you going to come?

going to kalıbından sonra fiil her zaman yalındır; She is going to visits veya going to visiting denmez.
