Privacy and data
This text covers all of Exactopia: the academy’s own pages and Genau, its German library. You need no account to browse, read or take tests — everything works without one. An account is optional: if you open one, your email address and progress record are also kept on a server, purely so your phone and computer share one notebook. Apart from that, the only thing that reaches us is what you write if you choose to fill in one of the site’s three forms. Everything is listed below.
The short version
- An account is optional. Every page, test and PDF is open without signing up. An account exists only to carry your progress between devices and to download the level packs.
- Apart from an account, one exception: the forms. The site has three forms: the German lesson form, the lesson request and the teacher application. If you choose to submit one, what you write reaches us. If you have not signed in and have not sent a form, nothing reaches us.
- With no account and no form sent, we hold no record of you. The pages are all static files; a database is involved only once you sign in.
- We set no cookies ourselves. Preferences live in your browser’s own storage (localStorage). Google AdSense, which is loaded on the pages, may use its own cookies for advertising — see “Advertising” below.
- Clearing removes it. Clearing your browser data deletes everything on your device. If you opened an account or sent a form, that is a separate record — write to us and we delete it.
- When you tap a word. If a German word you tap is not in our own dictionary, only that word is looked up on Wiktionary (Wikimedia) and, failing that, the MyMemory translation service. Nothing about you is sent.
What is kept in your browser
The following stay on your device. If you are not signed in, none of it is sent to a server and we cannot see it. If you are signed in, your question record (genau:log), finished topics (genau:ilerleme), board (genau:pano), word notebook (genau:defter) and notes (genau:notlar) are also written to the server — details in the next section.

To remove all of it, clear this site’s data in your browser. Your progress marks reset with it. If you are not signed in there is no backup, because there is nowhere holding one. If you are signed in, your question record, finished topics, board, word notebook and notes are kept on the server and come back when you sign in again.
What happens if you open an account
You sign in with email and password. We cannot see your password: Supabase stores it as a one-way hash. If you forget it, a reset link is sent to your email address.
There are two doors, both in Turkish: the academy’s sign-in page and the German library’s sign-in page. Both open the same account; which one you use makes no difference.
- What is kept: your email address, the identifier given to your account, your account tier, the record of which question you answered right or wrong and when, the topics you finished, what you pinned, your word notebook and your notes. No name, phone number or payment detail is requested.
- Where: on Supabase, in Frankfurt (Germany). The data stays inside the European Union.
- Who can see it: no other account can. The database uses row-level security — an account can read only its own rows and technically cannot reach anyone else’s. As the party running the database, we can access it.
- Why: the single reason is so your phone and your computer show the same progress. It is not used for advertising, profiling or list-building, and it is never sold.
- Deleting: write to us and we delete the account and everything attached to it.
Downloading the level packs also requires an account. The per-topic PDFs stay open without signing in, and that will not change.
The forms: what we ask and what happens next
The site has three forms. All three are optional; every page works without them. Here is what each one asks, field by field.
- The German lesson form (on Genau’s lesson page): your name, your email address or phone number (one field, whichever you prefer) and your current level. Optional: your goal.
- The lesson request (on the academy’s Turkish “request a teacher” page): your name, email address, the subject you want, your level, your goal and your weekly pace. Optional: your phone number and a message.
- The teacher application (Turkish page): your full name, email address, the subject you would teach, your teaching experience and your exam-preparation experience. Optional: your phone number, your language level, a link to your CV or LinkedIn profile and a short message about yourself.
A form you send is stored in our Supabase database, on servers in Frankfurt (Germany): what you wrote, which page the form was sent from and the time of submission. A person reads it; there is no automated reply. We answer by email — or by phone, if a phone number is what you put in the German lesson form.
We use these details only to answer that request or application: no mailing list, no advertising use, no sharing outside the academy. A lesson request exists to match you with a teacher; only the teacher you are matched with sees what you wrote.
If you want it deleted, write to us: we delete the database entry and any notification email it produced. No automatic deletion period is defined, so just ask whenever you like.
You do not have to use a form. Messaging on Instagram or emailing directly reaches the same place. Each form also has one empty field you never see: it filters out bots and collects nothing from you.
Server logs
The site is hosted on Cloudflare. Like any web server, Cloudflare keeps technical logs: IP address, browser details, requested address, timestamp. These exist for security and error tracking; we do not link them to individuals and do not use them for marketing.
Advertising
The library is free and will stay free. To cover costs, the pages carry Google AdSense ads. Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this website or other websites. Google’s use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visits to this site and/or other sites on the Internet. That is Google’s processing, not ours, and is governed by Google’s own policy.
You can opt out of personalised advertising in Google Ads Settings. You can also opt out of third-party vendors’ cookies at youronlinechoices.eu (EU) or aboutads.info (US).
Visitors in the European Economic Area, the UK and Switzerland see Google’s certified consent screen before any ad is shown; you can refuse personalised advertising there.
Your rights and who to write to
GDPR (and Turkey’s KVKK) give you rights to access, correct and delete your data. For what sits in your browser those rights are already in your hands: it is all on your device, and clearing this site’s data removes it. If you opened an account or sent a form, write to us to see, correct or fully delete the record we hold.
For any question or request about your data, write to contact@exactopia.com. The address is the same for Exactopia and Genau. Other ways to reach us are on the contact page.
